Turn off a Mac OS X keyboard shortcut. To use a keyboard shortcut that is the same as a default Mac OS X keyboard shortcut, you must first turn off that Mac OS X keyboard shortcut. On the Apple menu, select System Preferences. Mac keyboard shortcuts By pressing certain key combinations, you can do things that normally need a mouse, trackpad, or other input device. - Mar 13, 2019 Since Finder is always opened in Mac OS it should always be available. After Finder is selected press Command N to get a new Finder window. Clicking on the Finder icon in the dock is also a quick way to bring up a Finder window but it seems you want a keyboard shortcut.
- The Mac keyboard shortcut command F will perform the Find action. Find is a global Mac keyboard shortcut that is usually located in the Edit menu. This keyboard shortcut for Find is available in Mac OS X and may also be available with other versions of Mac OS.
